All These Dead Balloons
A record steeped in icy atmospherics, haunting melodies, and shambling beats, evoking the twisted desolation of depleted landscapes. Layered and elegant melodies wind around each other above stuttering bass lines, mournful choirs, and twitchy beats.
All These Dead Balloons, the fourth full length from Portland Oregon's Quiet Countries, finds the multi-faceted producer creating in full form.
From the opening salvo of regret that is "The Longest Year on Record", a blend of mournful piano, manipulated synth ghosts, and insistent beats, to the closing piece, "Good Inc. (In Case You Think You're Disappearing)" a psychedelic wash of manipulated guitars over house influenced bass and drums, the record manages to cover a wide range of emotion while focusing primarily on the moodier end of the sonic spectrum.
"Pacing the Halls" features Quiet Countries smooth and passionate vocals over a sad Rhodes figure, glitchy drums, and chirping synths, with a chorus that haunts your ears long after the song is over. "The Rendering"s lazy drums pound away under codeine intoxicated monks, Gilmour-esque guitars, and melodic bass. The stuttering bass lines and giant drums of "Chatterbox" provide ample dance floor fodder underneath frozen synth pads and melancholy strings.
All These Dead Balloons will be available for digital download on October 31st, 2013 through www.quietcountries.com
and on Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Spotify, Itunes, and Pandora.
